The winners of the 2009 Australian Sound Guild Awards for BEST SOUND IN A SHORT FILM were Dan Johnston, Adam Connelly and Craig Butters.  Congratulations to our talented team once again.

Following it’s world premiere at Cannes, Jane Campion’s film Bright Star has sold to Atlantic Film for Scandinavia, SSG for Taiwan, Babilla for Colombia, Phars for the Middle East, PT Camila for Indonesia, Golden Village for Singapore and Myndform for Iceland.

It also sold Spanish rights to Vertigo. Bright Star was acquired for the US prior to the festival by Bill Pohlad and Bob Berney’s as yet unnamed new distribution venture. The film is now virtually sold out internationally.

Bright Star, the new film from Jane Campion starring Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw, has been selected for the Official Competition and is the first Australian film to be included in the Official Competition since since Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge in 2001.

Renowned as Sydney’s first beachside cinema, Flickerfest kicks off the summer cinema season outdoors under the stars at Bondi Beach, screening the best short films from Australia and the world in a unique and relaxed summer environment. After the Sydney Festival Flickerfest tours to 17 venues around Australia.
